A new…

We are thrilled to announce that we’ll be welcoming another little soul in late November or early December. Probably early December if previous experience is any indication 😉

I’m about 12 1/2 weeks along right now and the baby is looking GREAT, praise God. I had my twelve week appointment last Thursday and the midwife warned me that babies’ heartbeats at this early stage can be hard to hear with the doppler: not to worry if we couldn’t get anything right away. She put the jelly covered wand against my skin and almost immediately, we heard the “thuh-thump” that was inevitably our child’s heart. “Someone in there is easy to find!” she smiled. I beamed.

As a bonus, we even had time to check out Baby Reeves 2 via ultrasound. When I was pregnant with Jay, I only had an ultrasound to date the pregnancy around 7 weeks and then again at 22 weeks for his anatomy scan, so I had never seen a little one between the cute little “blob” stage and baby with all his/her parts. It was amazing to see how much he or she had grown in just a month. A tiny profile, a little hand waving around with five fingers that I could count… this miracle will never stop taking my breath away. I am so grateful to be a mother of TWO.

b is for baby!

This pregnancy has been so different than Jay’s. I occasionally battle nausea in the mornings or late at night, but it is nothing close to what I endured during the first trimester with Jay. We joke that the baby is probably a girl since things are so different this go-around, but either way, we can’t wait to find out and we are so excited to have another son OR our first daughter.

Jay and the baby will be around 17 months apart, so yes, things will be crazy for a while. Add in our move to New York tentatively scheduled for the end of this year (actually 10 days before my due date…hmm) and I’m sure we’ll be in over our heads for a bit. There is no perfect time to welcome a baby but hundreds of “good-enough” times, and we will make it work with the dozens of people who love and lift up our growing family. Thank you all for loving, for celebrating, for praying, and for helping! 28 weeks to go!
